Severe heat has worsened conditions in Uttar Pradesh. Since 7:00 AM on Wednesday, intense sunlight and gusts of hot wind have left people in distress, while the Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave warning for 32 districts across the state.

Heatwave Grips Eastern to Western UP

The severe heat has begun to make its presence felt across both the eastern and western divisions of UP. Particularly in the Bundelkhand region and the southern districts bordering Madhya Pradesh, hot winds and heatwave gusts are compounding the difficulties faced by the public. Daily life has been disrupted by the scorching sun since early morning, and the situation is deteriorating further as the day progresses.

On Tuesday, Banda emerged as the hottest district in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 44.2 degrees Celsius, while Sultanpur and Prayagraj recorded maximum temperatures of 43.4 degrees and 43.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Heatwave Alert for 32 Districts; No Relief Until April 25

According to Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre in Lucknow, dry westerly winds have created heatwave-like conditions in several districts. The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave warning for 32 districts—including Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, and Shahjahanpur.

According to the forecast, there is no likelihood of any relief from the scorching heat until April 25. However, some respite may be expected starting April 26, following the activation of a new Western Disturbance, which is expected to lead to increased cloud cover and activity.

School Timings Revised; Administration on Alert

In view of the severe heat, the administration has also taken proactive measures. District Magistrate Vishakh G. has issued an order rescheduling the timings for all government, semi-government, and private schools—from pre-primary levels up to Class 8—to run from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. This arrangement will remain in effect until further orders are issued.

The District Magistrate has directed the District Inspector of Schools and the Basic Education Officer to ensure strict compliance with this order. Heatwave Continues to Ravage the Capital

The heat continued to make its presence felt in the capital on Tuesday as well. Despite a drop of approximately 1.4 degrees in the maximum temperature, it was recorded at 40.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature stood at 23.6 degrees Celsius.

People appeared distressed by the scorching sun and hot winds during the afternoon hours. Children returning from school were seen with faces looking wilted under the harsh sunlight. Meanwhile, an eerie silence prevailed on the streets, as people were seen seeking refuge in the shade.
