Bird flu confirmed in Rampur; sale of chicken, eggs banned for 21 days

The administration has become alert after bird flu cases were reported in Uttar Pradesh. The administration has taken strict measures. Recently, after bird flu was confirmed in samples taken from a poultry farm located in Bilaspur tehsil, the Rampur district administration has temporarily closed chicken shops and poultry farms. Along with this, the sale of chicken, eggs and related products has been banned for 21 days.

Administration alert

Rampur SP Vidya Shankar Mishra said, “We are coordinating with the concerned police officer, Chief Veterinary Officer and Sub-District Magistrate to control the spread of bird flu. The general public has been appealed to be vigilant and coordination has also been done with the livestock owners. The District Magistrate has ordered to keep poultry shops and farms closed and ban the sale of chicken meat.”

The Rampur administration has also activated a control room, which is constantly monitoring and exchanging information at the ward level. Coordination has been increased with the regulatory body and NCDC so that the poultry sector can be monitored across the state.

Bird flu confirmed

More than 15,000 chickens were found infected after their death in poultry farms of Biralpur tehsil. The H5N1 virus was confirmed in IVRI Bareilly and HSADL lab in Bhopal.

Restrictions imposed: A radius of one kilometer was declared as “infected area” and up to 10 kilometers was considered “surveillance zone”. There is a complete ban on the sale of chicken and eggs here.

Rapid response team deployed: Under the supervision of the Chief Veterinary Officer, a special team has been formed which is working for vigilant monitoring and control of the disease.

CM’s instructions: Reacting to this issue, CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered strict enforcement of security in cages, zoos, sanctuaries and national parks. Also, the Health Department has been directed to study the possible human infection and submit a report.
