The police arrested the youth wing district president of the Hindu Raksha Dal in Muzaffarnagar in connection with a case involving a demand for ₹50 lakh in extortion money from a scrap dealer and the collection of ₹9 lakh.

The police have cracked a case within 24 hours involving a gang that hijacked a scrap-laden pickup truck in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, and extorted money from a businessman in a dramatic, movie-style fashion. The arrested accused has been identified as Hemant, the youth district president of the ‘Hindu Raksha Dal’. According to the police, the accused held the pickup driver and helper hostage, forced them to call the vehicle owner using their mobile phones, and demanded a ransom of ₹50 lakh. Eventually, after negotiations, the vehicle was released upon payment of ₹9 lakh. While one accused has been arrested, more than six others—including the gang’s ringleader—remain at large.
Scrap-laden pickup intercepted on the highway
According to the police, on the morning of July 21, a pickup truck transporting scrap from Dehradun to Delhi was intercepted near the Badheri Cut on the Muzaffarnagar highway by miscreants riding in a car and on a motorcycle. Threatening the driver and helper, the accused took control of the vehicle and drove them to a secluded location.
Extortion demand of ₹50 lakh
The miscreants forced the hostage helper to call the pickup owner, Zafar—a resident of Delhi—and demanded a ransom of ₹50 lakh in exchange for the vehicle’s release. After prolonged negotiations, a deal was struck for ₹12 lakh.
Vehicle released after payment of ₹9 lakh
According to the police, the accused summoned the pickup owner from Delhi to a highway-side dhaba (eatery) in Muzaffarnagar, where they returned the vehicle after collecting ₹9 lakh in cash.
Police solve the case within 24 hours
Upon receiving information about the incident, the police formed multiple teams and launched an investigation. Based on CCTV footage, surveillance data, and other technical evidence, the police arrested the accused, Hemant, within just 24 hours.
Accused is the youth district president of Hindu Raksha Dal
Interrogation revealed that the arrested accused, Hemant, serves as the youth district president of the Hindu Raksha Dal. According to the police, the organization’s national president is Pinky Chaudhary (alias Bhupendra), a resident of Ghaziabad. However, the police have clarified that the action taken is based on the accused’s individual criminal role, and the investigation is proceeding in that direction.
Several accused, including the main ringleader, still at large
The police state that more than six miscreants, including the prime accused, remain at large in this case. Continuous raids are being conducted to apprehend them. The police claim that once all the accused are arrested, the gang’s entire network and their modus operandi will be revealed.
