A tragic road accident occurred on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura around 3:30 AM on Tuesday. A Volvo bus operated by Gola Bus Service, en route from Lucknow to Delhi, rammed violently into the rear of a trailer truck loaded with gravel. Four passengers died in the accident, while 24 others sustained injuries.
The impact was so severe that the front section of the bus embedded itself about eight feet into the trailer. Several passengers were trapped inside the bus, while the body of a young man was found hanging out of a window. Police and locals arrived at the scene, broke open the windows and doors to rescue the passengers, and carried out relief and rescue operations.
Accident occurred about two kilometers before the Raya Cut in the Raya police station area
Upon receiving the information, eight Police Response Vehicles (PRVs) and 12 ambulances rushed to the scene. There were 65 passengers on board the bus; the 40 uninjured passengers were sent to their destinations via other buses.
According to SP (Rural) Suresh Chandra Rawat, the gravel-laden trailer was moving in its designated lane when the speeding Volvo bus lost control and collided with it from behind. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident was caused by the bus driver’s negligence, speeding, and an attempt to overtake.
24 people were brought to the hospital; all are undergoing treatment
Dr. Sushil Kumar of Mathura District Hospital stated that 24 people injured in the accident were brought to the hospital, and treatment is ongoing for all of them. Some critically injured patients have been referred to Agra for advanced care, while passengers bound for Delhi are also being sent onward. Two or three of the injured have suffered thigh bone fractures, while the condition of the others is reported to be stable and normal.
