The NEET controversy, which originated in Rajasthan, has finally reached its conclusion. The NTA has cancelled the NEET UG 2026 examination. Claims had been circulating that 125 “guess questions” for this exam matched the actual question paper verbatim; ever since these allegations surfaced, the integrity of the examination had been under a cloud of doubt. The exam, originally held on May 3, will now be conducted again; a new date will be announced shortly. Students will not be required to register again, nor will they incur any additional fees. The investigation into the matter will now be conducted by the CBI, and students have been advised to rely solely on official information.

It is worth noting that in several states—including Rajasthan—approximately 125 questions from “guess papers” were found to match the actual NEET question paper exactly, leading to persistent doubts being raised regarding the authenticity of the examination. Following a report by ABP News, a verification process was initiated; it was subsequently determined that the current examination process could not be allowed to proceed, prompting the NTA to make the decision to cancel the exam.
Committed to Being “Fair, Secure, and Credible,” States NTA
Following its press release dated May 10, 2026, the NTA has issued a new statement clarifying that, on May 8, 2026, certain matters pertaining to NEET UG 2026 were referred to “central agencies” for investigation. Simply put, several complaints, irregularities, or suspicious activities regarding the NEET UG 2026 examination had come to light. The NTA has affirmed that, in order to uphold the fairness and security of the examination process, an independent investigation into these matters will be conducted. Therefore, the matter has been handed over to central investigative agencies so that they may conduct verification and take necessary action. In its statement, the NTA also asserts that it is committed to conducting national examinations in a “fair, secure, and credible” manner.
