A video showing the family members of an injured patient being made to clean an ambulance has gone viral in Katni, Madhya Pradesh. The administration has initiated an investigation into the matter.

A video surfacing from the Katni district of Madhya Pradesh has raised serious questions regarding the state of the healthcare system. The viral video alleges that the family members of a person injured in a road accident were forced to clean the ambulance before the patient could be transported in it. Following the revelation of this incident, public outrage has mounted, and questions are being raised regarding the conduct of the hospital management.
Allegations of ‘Cleaning the Ambulance’ Before Patient Referral
According to reports, the incident involves 32-year-old Rahul Barman, who sustained severe injuries in a road accident near Karela village. He was admitted to the District Hospital in Katni, where doctors, noting his critical condition, referred him to Jabalpur. During this process, a video emerged in which a female relative of the patient was allegedly seen washing a ‘108’ ambulance, while a staff member stood nearby. This visual has sparked allegations of misconduct within the hospital premises.
Hospital Administration’s Response and Action
Reacting to the incident, Civil Surgeon Dr. Yashwant Verma stated that while he has not received any written complaint, the matter has been taken cognizance of. He informed that an explanation has been sought from the ambulance driver, and other staff members have been issued a warning to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future.
Action Initiated via Notices
According to officials, notices have been issued to the ambulance driver and the in-charge, demanding a response within one week. Further action will be determined based on their replies. Meanwhile, the private agency responsible for operating the ambulance service has reportedly terminated the services of two employees allegedly involved in the incident.
Investigation into the Matter Continues
The administration has launched an investigation into the entire sequence of events. The inquiry aims to ascertain whether the victim’s family members were coerced into paying money or cleaning the ambulance in order to transport the patient. This incident has sparked a renewed debate regarding accountability and humane conduct within healthcare services.
