Superintendent of Police D.S. Swami stated that nine people have died so far. Two people have been injured; they were admitted to the hospital due to the severity of their condition, where they are currently undergoing treatment.

Reports have emerged of a horrific road accident in Kalyan, Maharashtra, where nine people lost their lives following a collision between a dumper truck and an Eeco car. Two other individuals sustained serious injuries. Thane Superintendent of Police (SP) DS Swami has confirmed the incident.
SP DS Swami stated that, so far, nine fatalities have been reported, while two individuals remain injured. Due to the critical nature of their condition, the injured have been admitted to a hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
According to reports, the accident occurred in Kalyan near the Rayta Bridge on the Kalyan-Murbad road at approximately 11:00 AM. It is reported that a total of 12 people were traveling in the Eeco car, which was en route to Murbad. However, near the Rayta Bridge on the outskirts of Kalyan, the car collided with a dumper truck. The impact of the crash was so severe that the Eeco car was completely mangled.
Following the accident, the scene was filled with cries of distress. A crowd comprising locals and passersby quickly gathered at the spot. The police were immediately alerted to the incident. The Titwala police, along with a rescue team, arrived at the scene and, with the assistance of local residents, extricated the injured victims and rushed them to the hospital. Simultaneously, the bodies of the deceased were recovered from the wreckage of the car.
Police officials stated that the collision resulted in a massive traffic jam on the highway near the Rayta Bridge on the Titwala-Kalyan route, severely disrupting vehicular movement in the area.
The police confirmed that the bodies of the deceased have been sent for a post-mortem examination, while the injured victims have been admitted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Preliminary reports indicate that eight people died on the spot, while one victim succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Currently, the police have initiated an investigation into the causes of the accident. Initial information suggests that excessive speed or a loss of control over the vehicle may have been the primary factors leading to this tragedy.
