Ashutosh Brahmachari, who filed a case against Swami Avimukteshwarananda, was attacked on a train. Brahmachari stated, “We traveled to Prayagraj from Shakumbhari Peeth by train to Ghaziabad, as our tickets were from Ghaziabad. We were traveling to Prayagraj by Rewa Express. At 5 a.m. on Sunday, we were attacked with sharp weapons. An attempt was made to cut off our noses. We saved our lives by hiding in the bathroom.”

Ashutosh Brahmachari explained that after a small group of students filed a case against Swami Avimukteshwarananda under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, an announcement was made that anyone who brought Ashutosh Brahmachari’s nose would receive 21 lakh rupees. This is the basis of this conspiracy and an attempt has been made to murder him. He stated that he has filed a case against Avimukteshwarananda, Mukundanand, Arvind, Prakash, and Dinesh Sharma.

On February 21, Special POCSO Judge Vinod Kumar Chaurasia directed the station house officer of the Jhunsi police station to register an FIR based on a petition filed by Ashutosh Brahmachari, a disciple of Jagadguru Rambhadracharya. Brahmachari filed the application under Section 173(4) of the Indian Penal Code, which provides that if a police officer refuses to register a complaint, a person can approach a magistrate. Brahmachari presented two minor children before the POCSO court, and the court reserved its order on the application on February 13.

The special court ordered the registration of an FIR and further investigation after studying the preliminary investigation report submitted by Prayagraj Police Commissioner Jogendra Kumar.

Swami Avimukteshwarananda was attempting to reach Sangam via the traditional Palki Yatra during the Mauni Amavasya Snan Mahotsav during the Prayagraj Magh Mela. The Prayagraj administration had stopped the procession, citing large crowds and a “no-vehicle zone” policy. This led to clashes between his disciples and the police. Swami Avimukteshwarananda reportedly refused food and water, demanding an apology from the administration.
