A tragic accident has occurred in the Diara region of the Danapur Assembly constituency of Patna district. Late Sunday night, a tragic incident occurred in Manas Nayapanapur 42 Patti village, under the Akilpur police station.

The roof of an old house built under the Indira Awas Yojana suddenly collapsed, killing five members of the same family on the spot. The deceased include homeowner Bablu Khan (32), his wife Roshan Khatoon (30), son Mohammad Chand (10), daughter Rukhshar (12), and youngest daughter Chandni (2).

Family asleep after dinner was struck by disaster

Around 9:45 pm on Sunday night, the family had gone to sleep after dinner as usual. Suddenly, with a loud bang, the roof of the house collapsed. Panic gripped the village. People rushed to the scene and began trying to rescue the family trapped under the debris.

Upon receiving the information, police from the Akilpur police station arrived at the scene and, with the help of villagers, began relief and rescue operations. But by the time the family was rescued, everyone had died.

The dilapidated house was built under the Indira Awas Yojana (Indira Housing Scheme).

Villagers reported that the house was built several years ago under the Indira Awas Yojana (Indira Housing Scheme). Over time, the house had become old and dilapidated. Recent rains and moisture had weakened the walls, and the roof had already developed cracks. Due to their financial situation, the family was unable to afford repairs. Villagers said that many such Indira Awas houses have now fallen into disrepair, requiring inspection.

Local administration begins investigation

Following the incident, the local administration has begun investigating the matter. Station House Officer Vinod stated that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. Administrative officials have assured the victim’s family of government assistance.

Three teenagers were injured on Sunday when a balcony collapsed at the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Residential School in Sidhav, Bagaha 2 block, West Champaran district. It is being reported that the three young men were playing in the school premises when a balcony suddenly collapsed, trapping them. The incident caused chaos at the scene. With the help of local residents, the injured were immediately brought to the sub-divisional hospital in Bagaha, where, after first aid, one teenager was referred to Bettiah GMCH for better treatment. The injured have been identified as Prince Kumar and Hareram, while the identity of the third victim has not yet been established.
