Govt school balcony collapses in Udaipur, girl dies:Renovation work underway in building; false ceiling collapse in Bundi injures 5 students in separate incident

A girl died and another was injured when a balcony of a government school collapsed in Kotada police station area of Udaipur district of Rajasthan. Police said that the school building was dilapidated and construction work was going on.

They said that both the girls were playing near the school. They said that during this time the balcony collapsed, due to which one girl died after being buried under the debris, while another was injured. They said that the incident took place in Patharwadi village in tribal dominated area Kotada.

Police said that the school building was under construction and no classes were going on in the premises. Police said that at the time of the incident both the girls were grazing goats near the school.

State School Education Minister Madan Dilawar said, “This is a sad incident. One girl who was not a student of the school died, while another girl, who was a student of the school, is seriously injured. I have asked the officials to investigate the matter.”

Kotda Thanadhikari Mungla Ram said that the Independence Day celebrations were being held at a different place as the school premises were under construction. He said that Moli (12) died in the accident, while the injured Payal (11) was taken to the neighboring state of Gujarat for treatment.

He said that after the girl’s death in Udaipur, the villagers became angry and started protesting. The villagers have accused the administration of using substandard material. Mungla Ram said that on receiving the information, the Kotda police station reached the spot and started investigation.
