Top Hamas commanders were killed – Israeli army claims

Israel’s military Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Friday that its troops have killed several senior Hamas commanders in Gaza who took part in the October 7 massacre in the country. The Israeli military said the commanders – Ahmed Musa and Amr Alhandi – were part of the militant group elite Nukhba Forces.

Musa Nukhba was a company commander while Alhandi served as a platoon commander. The IDF said the two were hiding in the Jabaliya area. The army also said that the operation was carried out following intelligence received from the Shin Bet security agency.

According to the IDF, Musa was among the Hamas commanders who led the October 7 attack on the Zikim base, a nearby kibbutz, and another military outpost in the area. The army also announced the killing of Muhammad Kahlout, the head of Hamas’s sniper group in the Northern Gaza Brigade. But it did not provide any further information about Kahlot.

Meanwhile, the IDF’s 252nd Battalion killed 19 Hamas militants who were planning to attack the army. The IDF and the Israeli Security Agency (ISA) claimed that the Nukhba force was involved in massacres and destruction in southern Israel on 7 October.
