A loading vehicle and a truck collided head-on with great force. Eight laborers traveling in the loading vehicle died in the accident, while 22 others are reported to be injured.

A tragic road accident occurred late at night on National Highway-719 in the Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh. A loading vehicle and a truck collided head-on near Chhimka village, within the jurisdiction of the Gohad Chauraha police station. Eight laborers traveling in the loading vehicle died in the accident, while 22 others were reported injured. The injured were initially taken to the Gohad Health Center, from where those in critical condition were referred to Gwalior.
Laborers were returning after paddy transplantation
According to reports, laborers from Pachgawan and nearby villages in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district had gone to Chinor village in the Dabra area of Gwalior district for paddy transplantation work. After completing the work, all the laborers were returning home in a loading vehicle.
Around midnight, as they reached near Chhimka village, the loading vehicle collided violently with an oncoming truck. The impact was so severe that the front section of the loading vehicle was badly mangled.
Accident suspected to have occurred while trying to avoid cows on the road
Preliminary information suggests the accident happened while attempting to avoid cows sitting on the road. It is reported that both vehicles were speeding, which intensified the impact of the collision. Five laborers died on the spot, while the other injured individuals were taken to the hospital.
Upon receiving news of the incident, Ramnaresh Yadav, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Gohad Chauraha, arrived at the scene with a police team. With the help of locals, the police extricated the people trapped in the vehicle and immediately alerted ambulance services.
Five ambulances reached the scene
Acting on instructions from Prabhanshu Dubey, the in-charge of the Dial-108 ambulance service, five ambulances were immediately dispatched to the accident site. All the injured were transported to Gohad Hospital with the help of Dial-112 and 108 ambulances. The condition of some of the workers injured in the accident is reported to be critical. The severity of the accident can be gauged from the fact that the loading vehicle was badly damaged. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, and the actual cause of the accident is being ascertained.
