The Delhi Police suspect that this matter is not limited to just one officer; instead, a larger espionage network might be involved, aiming to acquire strategic information related to the Indian military and national security.
The investigation revealed that the Wing Commander was going through a difficult phase in his personal life. During this time, he began interacting with a woman on social media. Gradually, their conversations deepened, and they even started making video calls.
Woman won trust first, then obtained information
According to police sources, the woman first gained his trust and subsequently began asking for information regarding military activities. It is alleged that the officer shared details about the movement and deployment of military units, along with other sensitive information, with the woman.
The police suspect that the woman was working for a Pakistani intelligence agency and that the officer was targeted through a honey trap.
Sources close to the investigation stated that the woman had asked the officer to share photos, videos, and other details regarding the movement and deployment of military units.
Woman got a specific app installed on the officer’s phone
It is alleged that the officer also transmitted certain crucial documents and data to the woman via digital channels. Investigative agencies are now working to determine exactly how much sensitive information was leaked and for what purpose it was intended to be used. Another serious detail has emerged during the investigation: according to the police, the woman allegedly asked the Wing Commander to have a specific app installed on a colleague’s mobile phone.
Investigative agencies suspect that this app could have functioned as spyware or remote access malware. Such software can be used to steal mobile data, track location, or gain access to conversations. In other words, according to investigative agencies, the matter was not limited to merely obtaining information from a single officer; attempts were also made to access the mobile phones and associated data of other defense personnel.
Delhi Police Suspects Pakistani Handlers Behind Honey Trap
The Delhi Police suspect that handlers based in Pakistan could be behind the woman who established contact via social media. According to police sources, the woman was allegedly acting on instructions from individuals in Pakistan. Investigative agencies are now trying to determine who else is involved in this network and who was operating it from abroad.
Wing Commander Arrested on May 31, 2026
The police suspect this could be part of a larger honey-trap module targeting defense officials to extract classified information. According to sources, the Delhi Police took action following specific intelligence provided by the IAF’s intelligence wing and arrested the Wing Commander on the night of May 31, 2026.
Accused Wing Commander Currently Lodged in Tihar Jail
Following his arrest, he was initially interrogated while in police custody. Subsequently, he was remanded to judicial custody and is currently lodged in Tihar Jail. The investigation into the matter is now focused on the digital trail. The police are trying to ascertain the modes of communication used between the officer and the woman, the extent of information shared, and the ultimate recipients of that information.
Simultaneously, investigative agencies are attempting to identify the alleged foreign handlers. They are also investigating whether the information obtained from the officer was intended for use in anti-India or hostile activities.
