Veteran BJP leader Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi has extended his support to students protesting against the NEET question paper leak, stating that their concerns and grievances are genuine. Joshi also criticized the police action against the students, terming it “ruthless.”
Joshi, a former national president of the BJP, criticized the police crackdown on the protesting students. Describing the police action as “ruthless,” he remarked that such use of force would alienate a large section of Indian society from the national goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). He urged that the students’ concerns be addressed with “empathy” and a “vision for long-term solutions.”
Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, who served as the Minister of Human Resource Development in the cabinet of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, stated in a post on ‘X’: “It is deeply distressing to see young students from various parts of the country gathered on the streets of New Delhi for several days. Their concerns and grievances are genuine. These should be resolved with empathy and a vision for long-term solutions.”
Dr. Joshi further added, “I sincerely hope that this is not viewed merely as a law-and-order issue to be dealt with through the use of force. I was deeply pained to see the ruthless use of force against women and young girls.” He remarked, “The use of such force will drive a large segment of Indian society far away from the goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.”
