An Air India aircraft carrying 175 people from Mumbai to Bhopal was granted priority landing at the Raja Bhoj Airport here on Sunday due to a technical glitch. An airport official provided this information.

The official stated that the aircraft landed safely at the Bhopal airport at 3:20 PM.

The official further noted that the aircraft was scheduled to return to Mumbai from Bhopal, but the flight was cancelled. A total of 178 passengers had bookings for this flight.

The Bhopal airport, operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), issued a statement confirming that Air India flight AI 633 reported a technical snag to Air Traffic Control (ATC) while en route from Mumbai to Bhopal.

The statement added that all established safety protocols were immediately activated, and seamless coordination was ensured among the ATC, the airline’s ground staff, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and the Bhopal airport’s Fire and Rescue team.

The airport operator reported that the aircraft, carrying 175 people—comprising 166 passengers and nine crew members—landed safely at the Bhopal airport at 3:20 PM.

The statement mentioned that all necessary assistance and support were extended by the airport and airline teams in accordance with the flight crew’s requirements.

The statement concluded by noting that, due to the technical snag, the aircraft was deemed unfit for further flight operations; consequently, as a precautionary measure, the airline cancelled the return flight—AI-634 (Bhopal to Mumbai)—to facilitate a comprehensive inspection and necessary repairs.
