Bashir Badr’s Famous Ghazals
- I neither gazed upon you to my heart’s content, nor did we exchange a word;
- Yet, I harbored a deep longing for this very meeting.
- You dwelt within my eyes, yet never descended into my heart to truly reside there;
- Like a passenger on a boat, you sailed the waters but never truly saw the ocean.
- If I were to search, I would surely find someone else;
- But who, like you, would ever love me so?
- Do not wander aimlessly and without cause; stay home for at least one evening.
- She is the true book of ghazal—read her gently, in quiet solitude.
- If you bow your head in reverence, even a stone will be elevated to the status of a deity;
- Do not love him so intensely, lest he turn out to be unfaithful.
