A massive fire broke out in the Vikas Nagar area of ​​Lucknow around 5:30 PM on Wednesday evening. The fire spread so rapidly that more than 30 gas cylinders exploded, and over 250 shanties were reduced to ashes. Reports suggest that the flames were visible from a distance of approximately 10 kilometers. Given the severity of the situation, about 20 nearby houses were also evacuated.

It took nearly 20 fire tenders approximately three hours of strenuous effort to bring the blaze under control. During this time, the electricity supply to the entire area was cut off as a safety precaution. Local residents allege that the police and fire tenders arrived at the scene nearly an hour after being alerted, a delay that allowed the fire to spread even further.

4 Children Dead, 6 Still Missing

A young man has claimed that his four children perished in the fire, while many families saw all their belongings reduced to ashes. Following the outbreak of the fire, people were seen running in all directions in a desperate bid to save their lives. Amidst the ensuing chaos and panic, six children from two families—four from one family and two from another—went missing. The police and administrative authorities continued their search for the missing children late into the night.

Angry Women and Residents Surround Plot Owner’s House

In the aftermath of the incident, angry women and other residents surrounded the plot owner’s house and staged a protest. The residents allege that the plot owner had been pressuring them to vacate the shanties for several days and was, in fact, responsible for having the fire set deliberately. Some individuals even pelted stones at his house, following which the police intervened to bring the situation under control.

The incident caused a traffic jam stretching approximately two kilometers along the Ring Road and in the Khurram Nagar area. Many people stopped their vehicles on the road to record videos, which further exacerbated the traffic congestion.
