Deteriorating Conditions in North India

According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely to continue on April 5 in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. During this period, strong winds gusting at speeds of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour are expected, and hailstorms may also occur in several locations.

In Delhi, storms and rain had a significant impact on Saturday. According to the Meteorological Department, weather fluctuations will persist between April 4 and 7. Light rain, drizzle, and winds blowing at speeds of approximately 50 km/h are forecast for this evening.

In Uttar Pradesh as well, heavy rainfall and hailstorms on Saturday caused extensive damage to crops. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for this region as well, indicating that weather activity is expected to intensify once again on April 7 and 8, with a possibility of winds reaching speeds of 50–60 km/h and hailstorms.

Alert in Eastern India; Impact from Bihar to Odisha

According to the Meteorological Department, the spell of rain accompanied by storms and squalls may intensify on April 7 and 8 in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha. The impact of this weather system is expected to persist in these regions until April 8.

In Bihar, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is forecast for April 5, 6, and 9, while a warning for severe storms, heavy rain, and hailstorms has been issued for April 7 and 8. During this period, wind speeds could reach up to approximately 60 kilometers per hour. Rain accompanied by strong winds is also expected to continue across the northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh.

Risk of Hailstorms and Lightning Strikes in Central India

Weather conditions have also deteriorated in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Vidarbha region. Warnings have been issued for these areas regarding rain accompanied by thunder, lightning, and hailstorms.

On Saturday, the weather took a sudden turn in several districts of Madhya Pradesh, where heavy rainfall and hailstorms worsened conditions. The impact was witnessed across various regions, including Gwalior. According to Ved Prakash Singh, a senior scientist at the Meteorological Department center in Bhopal, this entire shift in weather patterns is attributed to a Western Disturbance. The department has warned that strong winds, gusting at speeds of 60–70 km/h, may prevail until April 5, while the risk of lightning strikes and hailstorms will persist.

Rain in South India; Temperatures to Remain Below Normal

South India, too, has not remained unaffected by this change in weather patterns. Rain is likely in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Karnataka between April 4 and April 8. (India News)

The IMD states that, due to an active Western Disturbance, daytime temperatures across most parts of the country are likely to remain at or below normal levels for the next seven days, potentially offering some relief from the heat.
