Eid is being celebrated amidst tight security. Against the backdrop of a high alert, Eid prayers were offered at various times at the Eidgahs across Lucknow. Approximately 50,000 people offered prayers at the Aishbagh Eidgah.
Maulana Khalid Rashid, President of the Islamic Centre of India, has appealed to the public not to offer prayers on the streets. The Eid moon was sighted in Lucknow on Friday. Following this, the celebration of Eid was officially announced across all mosques in Uttar Pradesh, including the Aishbagh Eidgah. As the moon was not sighted on Thursday—the 29th day of Ramadan—its sighting was officially confirmed on Friday, marking the 30th day of Ramadan. The Maulana has urged everyone to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued for the prayers.
Meanwhile, keeping the festive season in mind, the administration has implemented robust security arrangements.
Sensitive areas are being continuously monitored via CCTV surveillance. To ensure smooth traffic flow during the prayer sessions, traffic has been diverted on 21 different routes. A heavy police force has been deployed in sensitive zones across the city to ensure that Eid celebrations conclude in a peaceful and secure manner.
Minister Danish Azad Ansari stated, “Today is Eid, a festival of immense significance for the Muslim community. We have all offered our prayers here peacefully, and prayers are currently being offered across the entire country, including Uttar Pradesh.”
Congress State President Ajay Rai remarked, “Today, we are all celebrating Eid. People are sharing their joy, embracing one another, and spreading the message of brotherhood both within the country and abroad.”
DCP (West Zone) Vishwajeet Srivastava said, “On the auspicious occasion of Eid, thousands of people offer their prayers at Aishbagh—one of the largest Eidgahs in the region. It serves as a safe venue for everyone, and all are encouraged to come and offer their prayers here. Comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place for the occasion. We have received additional reinforcements from the headquarters, comprising two Additional SPs, four Deputy SPs, eight companies of the PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary), and two companies of the RF (Rapid Force). In addition to these reinforcements, the local police force has also been deployed.”
