मध्य प्रदेश: सरकारी आदेश में कैलाश विजयवर्गीय के ‘घंटा’ वाला बयान का जिक्र, लेटर वायरल, SDM निलंबित

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Dewas in Madhya Pradesh faced serious trouble when a government order he issued went viral on social media. The order mentioned Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya’s controversial “ghanta” (bell/nothing) remark. Following the order’s circulation, the government took a strict stance, and Dewas SDM Anand Malviya was suspended with immediate effect.

The suspension order was issued by Ujjain Divisional Commissioner Ashish Singh. Subsequently, Assistant Grade-3 Amit Chauhan, posted in the SDM’s office, was also suspended by Dewas Collector Rituraj Singh after his role in the matter came to light. In an administrative reshuffle, Abhishek Sharma was appointed as the new SDM of Dewas.

Politics Heats Up After Deaths Due to Contaminated Water

The state’s politics was already heated due to the illness and deaths caused by contaminated drinking water in Indore. During this time, Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya’s use of the word “ghanta” in response to a journalist’s question further fueled the controversy.

The Congress party termed the statement insensitive and launched protests across the state. Amidst this tense political atmosphere, and in view of a proposed Congress protest in Dewas, SDM Anand Malviya issued a government order to maintain law and order.

The Language of the Order Increased the Trouble

The order was intended to ensure peace and order, but its language and content put the entire administration in a difficult position. The viral order not only contained administrative instructions but also directly mentioned the anti-government allegations made in the Congress memorandum, the number of deaths, and Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya’s “ghanta” remark.

Typically, such orders only contain instructions related to police deployment, prohibitory orders, and law and order. However, the inclusion of political language and allegations in this order increased the SDM’s troubles.

Displeasure at the Government Level

According to sources cited by Aaj Tak, a part of the order was almost verbatim copied from the memorandum submitted by the Congress party. This was considered the most objectionable aspect at the government level. Officials believed that including political allegations or statements in any government document is against the rules. As soon as the order went viral on social media, the opposition called it an example of the politicization of the administration. Even within the ruling party, discomfort over the matter was clearly visible.

The matter reached Bhopal, prompt action taken

Within hours of the order going viral, the matter reached Bhopal. According to sources cited by Aaj Tak, a report was requested at a high level, and the entire incident was reviewed. Following this, Ujjain Divisional Commissioner Ashish Singh, considering the matter serious, issued an order suspending Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Anand Malviya.

The internal investigation also revealed that Assistant Grade-3 Amit Chauhan, posted in the SDM’s office, was involved in drafting and typing the order. Following this, Dewas Collector Rituraj Singh also suspended Amit Chauhan.

Attempt to send a strong message

According to the report, through this action, the government has tried to send a clear message that any kind of negligence, political language, or allegations in government orders will not be tolerated.

Immediately after the suspension, Abhishek Sharma was appointed as the new SDM of Dewas. Upon assuming charge, the new SDM held a meeting with officials and clarified that all future orders would be issued strictly according to rules and in proper administrative language.
