फिजा में ‘जहर’, दिल्ली-NCR में AQI 400 के पार, सख्त चेतावनी जारी
Air pollution levels in the National Capital Region (NCR) are steadily reaching dangerous levels. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad has exceeded 400, which falls in the “severe category.”
According to the latest reports from environmental monitoring centers, the AQI in Bawana, Delhi, was recorded at 460, Chandni Chowk at 455, and Anand Vihar at 431. The AQI in Sector 125, Noida, reached 419 and the Vasundhara area of Ghaziabad at 413.
This alarming air pollution situation has become a serious health crisis for residents of Delhi-NCR. Doctors have issued a strict warning to citizens, stating that going out without a mask can be hazardous to health.
Children, the elderly, and those suffering from respiratory or heart conditions have been advised to avoid going out. This pollution is also causing eye irritation and difficulty breathing. Many government and private hospitals in the NCR are experiencing a rapid increase in patients complaining of breathing difficulties, sore throats, eye irritation, and chest pain.
Major hospitals like RML, Safdarjung, and LNJP have seen a 40 to 50 percent increase in such cases over the past week. Hospital management has ensured the availability of oxygen cylinders and added additional beds in emergency wards.
Experts say that these pollution levels are primarily due to stubble burning, vehicle emissions, construction work, and stagnant weather. Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) is already in effect, but despite this, there is no improvement in the air quality.
Environmental experts suggest that it is now essential to limit private vehicle use, strictly ban construction activities, and increase monitoring of industrial emissions in Delhi-NCR. People have been urged to stay indoors as much as possible and wear masks if they must go out. Amidst increasing pollution, life in NCR is currently becoming like a gas chamber.
