Famous actor Asrani passed away on Diwali at the age of 84.

Famous Bollywood comedian and actor Asrani has passed away at the age of 84. He had been in the hospital for the past five days. Asrani’s full name was Govardhan Asrani. Born on January 1, 1941, in Jaipur, Asrani began his career in the 1960s and appeared in over 400 films. His comic timing and unique style make him an unparalleled star of Bollywood. His role as a “British-era jailer” in “Sholay” still brings laughter to audiences. His roles in films like “Khatta Meetha” and “Chupke Chupke” are always remembered.
Asrani’s manager, Babubhai Thiba, stated that Asrani passed away today at Arogya Nidhi Hospital in Juhu. His last rites were performed this evening at the Shastri Nagar crematorium in Santacruz West. Only his family and close friends were present on the occasion.
After completing his early education at St. Xavier’s School, Jaipur, Asrani went to Rajasthan College for his graduation. After completing his studies, Asrani worked as a radio artist. Asrani’s wife is Manju Bansal Irani. Asrani has appeared in several films with his wife. Asrani also tried his hand in politics. He joined the Congress Party in 2004 and actively participated in the party’s campaign during the Lok Sabha elections.
It wasn’t easy for Asrani to establish himself in Bollywood. After much struggle, Asrani debuted with the Jaya Bhaduri-starrer “Guddi.” The film was a hit, and Asrani was well-liked in the film, but even then, his struggles didn’t end.
Asrani once said in an interview that people didn’t consider him a commercial actor, and Gulzar was among them. He said, “Gulzar sahab said no… they didn’t consider me a commercial actor… they said I have a strange face.” But once he tried his hand at acting, there was no looking back.
Koshish (1973), Bawarchi (1972), Chupke Chupke (1975), Chhoti Si Baat (1975), and Sholay (1975) are among his most memorable films. While Asrani is no longer in this world, he will live on forever through his characters.
