According to police, singer Salman Ali, who gained popularity through Indian Idol and “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa,” mesmerized thousands of spectators with his voice at the Dewa Mela. Crowds flocked to the fair pandal to listen to him. The music gradually picked up pace, and the crowd’s excitement reached its peak. By late night, there was no room left for a foot in the pandal.
Meanwhile, thousands of people began moving closer to the stage, causing chaos. As the pushing and shoving escalated, police had to intervene.
Seeing the situation in the fair pandal deteriorating, the city’s Circle Officer (CO), Sangam Kumar, personally arrived on stage and warned the crowd over the microphone, “If anyone creates a disturbance, remember you’re all under CCTV surveillance.”
