Floods have wreaked havoc in Punjab. More than 1,000 villages and more than 61,000 hectares of agricultural land have been affected by the floods. According to officials, the most affected villages are in Gurdaspur district.

Heavy rains in Punjab for the last several days have increased the difficulties of the people. The water level of Sutlej, Beas and Ravi rivers has reached dangerous levels. This has not only submerged thousands of villages, but has also displaced lakhs of people. Relief and rescue work is still going on on a war footing.
Pathankot (Madhopur Dam): A person trapped near the debris of the collapsed dam was rescued safely through a high-risk rescue operation with the help of NDRF and Air Force helicopters.
Gurdaspur (Dhangai Village): A woman and her 15-day-old newborn baby, who died after a C-section after being stuck in water for four days, were rescued safely by Army Kharga Corps Sappers through boat and army vehicle and reunited with relatives in Fatehgarh Churian.
Hoshiarpur District (Pong Dam): Several gates of Pong Dam were opened due to water rising above the danger mark, creating a flood-like situation there.
Flood situation is dire
1,018 villages in Punjab are affected by floods, and more than 1.9 lakh acres of agricultural land is submerged.
Extensive damage in 14 districts, including Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Ferozepur, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur and Fazilka.
Relief operations have evacuated 11,330 people, of which 4,711 have been rescued in the last 24 hours alone.
More than 26,000 residents in 323 villages (Gurdaspur) affected, for whom 23 relief camps have been set up, where food, ration and medical aid is being provided.
Army, Air Force, NDRF engaged in rescue operations
The Army deployed ATOR N1200 amphibious vehicles, capable of rescuing people stranded in deep and challenging terrain.
Helicopter rescue operations by IAF and Army: Stranded civilians and CRPF personnel were evacuated in Pathankot, while NDRF rescued 381 students and 70 teachers stranded in JB Vidyalaya, Daburi (Gurdaspur).
Departmental efforts: Local administration, NDRF, BSF, and NGOs like SGPC set up relief camps, distributed ration, water, and medicines
