‘Future generations will get information’
CM Dhami said that at present most of the government documents are published according to the Gregorian calendar, due to which traditional time calculation is getting left behind. In such a situation, by including Vikram Samvat in government documents, our glorious tradition will be respected and the coming generations will also be aware of its importance.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami says that this will be a very important step towards preserving and advancing the rich heritage of Indian culture. He said that by following the Hindu calendar, the preservation of Indian traditions will be strengthened and people will also become more aware of their cultural roots.
Actually Vikram Samvat is a major Samvat of Indian chronology, which was practiced by Maharaja Vikramaditya. Which is believed to have started in 57 BC. This Samvat is mainly based on lunar and solar calendar. In this, the months are divided into two parts. First Shukla Paksha and second Krishna Paksha. The phases of the moon increase in Shukla Paksha while they decrease in Krishna Paksha. There is a full moon and new moon in every month. In the Hindu calendar, the new year starts from Chaitra month. Whereas in the Gregorian calendar, the new year starts from January.
