There has been massive destruction due to the breaking of the glacier in Mana village of Chamoli in Uttarakhand. 57 workers were buried under snow after being hit by the glacier. After a risky operation that lasted the whole day, 33 of these workers have been rescued. The search for the remaining 24 workers is ongoing.

Efforts are on to save the lives of workers in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. Operation is going on on a war footing in the snowstorm. Teams of Army, ITBP, BRO, NDRF, SDRF, Health Department, District Administration, Police Administration are working with full alertness. Almost 24 hours have passed and 8 people are still stranded. 55 workers working near Badrinath Dham were hit by avalanche last day. After the incident of glacier breaking, rescue was started to save the workers, in which 47 workers have been evacuated so far.
Rain and snowfall are becoming a hindrance in the rescue operation. There is a full effort to evacuate people from the snowstorm. Due to continuous snowfall, the rescue had to be stopped at night, so that there is no danger to the rescue and relief teams. However, with the morning rays, information came about the start of the rescue operation at 7 o’clock. This morning, the army rescued 14 people from the avalanche site, out of which 3 were taken to Joshimath by civil helicopters in critical condition. So far 8 more workers are reported to be missing, who are being searched rapidly.
4 helicopters engaged in rescue, IAF’s Mi-17 on standby
Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman says that rescue and relief operations are going on rapidly. According to the officer, at present 4 helicopters are engaged in rescue. An MI-17 helicopter of the Indian Air Force is on standby, it will reach here as soon as the weather clears. A temporary helipad is being built near Mana. Snow removal work is going on. It is expected that after the helipad is ready, relief and rescue work will gain momentum.
PM Modi called CM Pushkar Dhami
The Chief Minister informed that PM Modi has called him and taken an update and assured everything possible. CM Dhami said- ‘Prime Minister Modi spoke on the phone and inquired about the rescue operation being carried out to safely evacuate the workers trapped in Mana, Chamoli. Along with this, he also took detailed information about the situation of rain and snowfall in the state. During this, the Prime Minister assured to provide all possible assistance from the Central Government to deal with any emergency.’
CM Dhami monitoring the rescue operation
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is monitoring the ongoing rescue operation. Pushkar Singh Dhami is taking updates every moment. The Chief Minister reached the State Emergency Operation Center late at night and held a meeting with the officials and reviewed the relief and rescue work of the workers trapped in the avalanche near Mana village. He directed the officials to expedite the rescue operation and ensure proper care of the workers evacuated so far.
Along with this, it has been decided to set up a temporary disaster control room in Joshimath, so that relief operations can be conducted effectively. On the Chamoli avalanche incident on Saturday morning, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said, ‘Rescue operations are being carried out continuously. Our effort is to evacuate all the trapped workers safely as soon as possible. Every possible effort is being made for that.’
