Something similar was seen in Aligarh Lok Sabha constituency, where an independent candidate was going among the people wearing a garland of slippers and asking for votes. Actually, Keshav Dev, candidate of Aligarh Lok Sabha seat, is contesting as an independent. Keshav Dev has received the election symbol of slippers from the Election Commission, after which he has been seen campaigning wearing a garland of 7 slippers around his neck. A video of this has also surfaced. In which you can see that Keshav Dev along with his supporters is talking to the shopkeepers in the market and asking for votes for himself.
BJP’s dominance on Aligarh seat. 14 candidates are contesting on Aligarh Lok Sabha seat. A total of 21 people had filed nominations. Out of which the names of five candidates have been withdrawn while two have withdrawn their names. Satish Kumar from BJP and Bijendra Singh from Samajwadi Party have contested from Aligarh seat. Hitendra Kumar is contesting the elections from Bahujan Party. There are about three and a half lakh Muslim voters in Aligarh, yet no party has given ticket to a Muslim leader.
