UP Police Recruitment Scam | STF Makes First Arrest In Paper Leak Case

Earlier, after a strong uproar by the candidates for several days, on Saturday, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had ordered the cancellation of the police recruitment examination and directed the Special Task Force to investigate all the allegations of paper leak.

The Special Task Force investigating the police recruitment paper leak case in Uttar Pradesh has made the first arrest in the case. STF on Sunday arrested a person named Neeraj Yadav, who had sent answers to the candidates on WhatsApp. He is a resident of Ballia. Officials said that Neeraj was sent a reply from another accused from Mathura. STF has also started focusing on the second accused.

Earlier, after a strong uproar by the candidates for several days, on Saturday, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had ordered the cancellation of the police recruitment examination and directed the Special Task Force to investigate all the allegations of paper leak. He tasked the officials to conduct the exams again in the next six months besides transporting the candidates to the exam centers free of cost using special UPSRTC buses. He also ordered to investigate the complaints of irregularities in the recruitment examinations of Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer.

Let us tell you here that out of 50 lakh applicants, more than 43 lakh candidates had appeared in the examination in four shifts of the examination conducted in two days for more than 60,400 posts of constable in UP Police. Overall, more than six lakh students from outside the state had appeared for the examination held on February 17 and 18. Due to this examination, huge crowd and chaos was seen for several days at railway stations and bus stands across the state.

The FIR was registered on Friday after strong protests by candidates in Lucknow and some other places alleging paper leak. Following Yogi’s instructions, the Home Department issued an order to cancel the examination. “The Recruitment Board is directed to proactively take legal remedies including initiation of FIR in response to any case of negligence,” the order said.
