Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the younger brother of Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed, has passed away at the age of 76. A 10-day official mourning period has been declared in Dubai following his death. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed his condolences.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the younger brother of UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has passed away. Sheikh Mohammed confirmed the news on Monday.
A ten-day mourning period has been announced in Dubai following his passing. The cause of death has not been disclosed at this time.
An official statement issued by the UAE Prime Minister’s Office read: “With unwavering faith in God’s will and destiny, the Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum—Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai—mourns the passing of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. By God’s will, he returned to his Lord this Monday morning.”
The statement added that an official mourning period of ten days would be observed, during which flags across Dubai would be flown at half-mast. Paying a personal tribute to his brother, the UAE Prime Minister expressed the hope that Al Maktoum would “find a place in Paradise and that his family and loved ones would be granted patience and solace.”
