At Children’s Academy School in Lakhimpur Kheri, a man named Saud Ansari shot and killed a teacher, Nishat Fatima, with a pistol and then shot himself; the accused had arrived at the school armed with the weapon, angered by a breakup. The incident caused panic within the school premises.

CCTV footage from before the murder of a female teacher in Lakhimpur has surfaced. It shows the accused holding the teacher at gunpoint, grabbing her hand, and dragging her along. Both the children and the teacher appear terrified; no one dares to intervene. The accused takes the teacher to the school’s first floor. Shortly after, he shoots her four times and then takes his own life.
According to eyewitnesses, Saud Ansari (28) arrived at the school at 11:30 AM on Monday, carrying two country-made pistols in his bag. He began arguing with the teacher, Nishat Fatima (26). He handed one of the pistols to Fatima and said, “You take my life, or I will take yours.” However, Fatima did not fire the weapon.
This enraged the accused. He pulled out a pistol and fired at Fatima, causing her to collapse onto the floor. The sound of gunfire caused the schoolchildren to scream in panic. Staff members rushed to the scene, but by then, Saud had already shot himself. A post-mortem examination of the teacher was conducted late at night; the report confirmed that the accused had shot her four times.
Before the incident, Saud had posted an Instagram story stating, “Since we have come into this world, we must eventually leave it. Forgive me if I have hurt your feelings, knowingly or unknowingly… Allah Hafiz.” His Instagram bio read, in Spanish: “User is dead…!”
The teacher’s family has alleged that the murder was the result of unrequited love. The incident took place at Children’s Academy School, located directly opposite the Collectorate.
Here is the full story in four points regarding how the accused came into contact with the teacher and why he committed the crime:
1- The teacher previously lived as a tenant in the accused’s home; their interaction began there.
Saud Ansari’s home is in the Naurangabad neighborhood, while Nishat Fatima lives in Hidayat Nagar. The distance between their homes is approximately one kilometer. Saud’s father, Qayyum Ansari, works at the District Industries Office. His elder brother, Daud Ansari, runs a sofa and mattress shop. After completing his B.Com., Saud was pursuing a B.Ed. degree.
Nishat Fatima’s father, Iliyas, works in Mumbai. Her elder brother, Shadab Akhtar, is preparing for the PCS (Provincial Civil Services) examination, and her younger brother, Anas, is also a student. The family originally hails from Sultanpur; Iliyas moved the family to Lakhimpur 12 years ago. Initially, Iliyas’s family lived as tenants in Saud’s house, which is where the interaction between Saud and Nishat Fatima began. Some time later, Iliyas built his own house, and the family shifted there; however, the two continued to communicate.
2- He was pressuring her for marriage; the teacher kept refusing
Nishat used to commute daily by auto-rickshaw to teach at Children’s Academy School in the Shahpura Kothi area. Locals say that until a few months ago, Saud would occasionally drop her off and pick her up on his bike. However, communication between Saud and Fatima had ceased over the last few months.
The teacher’s brother, Shadab, stated that Saud frequently harassed his sister. He pressured her to marry him, but she refused. We also tried reasoning with Saud several times. Despite complaints made to his parents, there was no improvement in his behavior.
3- He suddenly arrived at the school and began arguing with the teacher
According to eyewitnesses, Saud arrived at Children’s Academy School on Monday morning carrying a bag. Inside the bag, he had two country-made pistols and five cartridges. At the time, examinations were underway at the school. When the exam concluded at 11:30 AM, Fatima was escorting the students out through the gate.
Just then, Saud arrived and started talking to her. Soon, an argument broke out between them. As they argued, they moved up to the first floor. There, in the corridor outside Room No. 11, a heated altercation ensued. Saud pulled out pistols and handed one to Fatima.
4- When another teacher rushed to help, he threatened to kill her
Hearing the commotion, a teacher from another classroom rushed to intervene. Saud threatened her with the pistol, warning that anyone who stepped in would be killed. The teacher then locked herself and the children inside the classroom. When Fatima tried to flee, Saud opened fire on her. He then shot himself.

Panic gripped the school the moment the sound of gunfire was heard. Acting on information from the school management, the police arrived and evacuated the entire building. Since the exam was ending, many parents were already waiting outside the gate. The children were so traumatized by the incident that they burst into tears upon seeing their families, leaving behind their tiffin boxes and water bottles in their haste to leave.
Wrote before the incident: “We must leave this world”
For the past few months, Saud had been posting content related to sadness and ego on his Instagram account. Just minutes before his death, he posted an Instagram story that read:
“Assalamu Alaikum to everyone!
If I were to die suddenly, I request you all to please remove my photos from your phones and social networks. Clear my messages and report my Facebook account. Nothing in this world is permanent. Since we have come into this world, we must eventually leave it.
Please do not view or post my photos after my death… Offer prayers for me; Insha’Allah, it will help me. Forgive me if I have hurt your feelings, knowingly or unknowingly. When you hear that I am no more, do not say or post ‘R.I.P.’
