An 8-year-old girl died after suffering an electric shock outside a Ganpati pandal in Mumbai’s Lalbaug, while four others were critically injured and have been admitted to the hospital.

A tragic incident occurred on Sunday night during the Ganpati festival in Mumbai’s Lalbaug area. An 8-year-old girl died and four others were critically injured after an electric current suddenly spread outside a Ganpati pandal in the Kalachowki area. Following the accident, all five victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment, where doctors declared the girl dead.
Chaos ensues after electric shock outside the pandal
The incident took place near the Kalachowki Vibhag Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal, located on Dattaram Lad Marg in the Kalachowki area of Lalbaug. A large crowd had gathered in the locality for the Ganpati festival. Amidst the festivities, an electric current suddenly spread through the area near the pandal, affecting two boys and three girls. All of them suffered severe electric shocks.
Immediately after the incident, the five victims were taken to Masina Hospital in Byculla. Doctors declared the 8-year-old girl dead upon arrival. Among the four injured, one girl was reported to be in critical condition and was subsequently transferred to Global Hospital in Parel for advanced treatment. The other three injured individuals admitted to Masina Hospital also remain in serious condition and have been placed in the ICU.
25-year-old man also dies near Lalbaugcha Raja
Earlier, a 25-year-old man from Jalgaon had also died near the Lalbaugcha Raja Ganesh pandal in Mumbai. The deceased was identified as Jaideep Meghraj Nemade. He was standing in the queue with his friends to seek blessings from Lalbaugcha Raja when he suddenly fell ill and collapsed, subsequently passing away.
Jaideep’s uncle, Pramod Nemade, stated that he had left home on the night of September 17. The family received a call from another son who was with Jaideep’s friends, prompting them to rush to Mumbai immediately. Pramod mentioned that Jaideep used to visit Lalbaugcha Raja every year with four friends and had no prior history of illness or health issues. According to Pramod Nemade, Jaideep had entered the premises after waiting in the queue for darshan. He experienced breathing difficulties there, prompting him to step outside. It was then that he suddenly collapsed. His family states that he was in perfect health and had no prior health issues.
