Neighbors had not seen the couple, who lived in a Guwahati apartment, for about two days. Both their mobile phones were switched off. Upon arriving at the scene, the police tried to open the door; receiving no response, they broke the lock and entered. Inside, they discovered a woman’s body. The body was in a terrible state and had begun to decompose. According to the police, some of the woman’s fingers had been severed, and her head was missing from her torso.
How the Murder Was Committed
During the investigation, the police searched the entire flat. They found the woman’s severed head inside a polythene bag in the refrigerator. The body was later identified as that of 25-year-old Riya Talukdar. According to the police, Riya had married Ramanuj Goswami a few months earlier. After discovering the body, the police launched a search for Ramanuj, who had fled the flat. The police raided his suspected hideouts and continued their search.
