कतर के गैस टर्मिनल पर बड़ा धमाका, 54 लोग गंभीर रूप से घायल, 18 लापता, तलाश जारी
A massive explosion occurred late Sunday night at a major natural gas export facility in Qatar. Fifty-four people were injured in the ensuing fire, while 18 remain unaccounted for. The plant had previously been damaged in an Iranian attack and was being prepared for restart following repairs when the accident took place.
The incident occurred in the Ras Laffan Industrial City, considered the backbone of Qatar’s natural gas industry. As Qatar is one of the world’s leading natural gas producers, concerns are being raised about potential uncertainty in the international energy market following this accident.
Qatar had been facing difficulties in supplying gas to its customers due to Iran increasing its surveillance and control over the Strait of Hormuz, forcing the country to temporarily halt gas production activities. Later, as restrictions on movement through the Strait of Hormuz were eased amidst ongoing talks to end hostilities, Qatar began the process of reactivating its gas export facilities.
It was during this process on Sunday night that a powerful explosion suddenly rocked the Barzan gas supply plant, triggering a massive fire. The state-owned energy company has also confirmed the incident.
