NEET | नीट का इम्तेहान होने तक कैंपस में ही ‘कैद’ रहेंगे मेडिकल छात्र, छुट्टियों पर रोक, NMC का निर्देश
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed all medical colleges and institutions under its jurisdiction not to grant leave to students on June 20 and 21—except in special circumstances—to ensure cooperation in the fair conduct of the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled for Sunday.
In a notice issued on Thursday, the NMC stated that this move follows incidents where medical college students were found involved in activities that compromised the integrity and fairness of the examination process.
The directive was issued in compliance with instructions received from the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, regarding the conduct of the medical entrance examination. The Commission also urged medical colleges to remain vigilant and sensitize students against participating in any activity that could undermine the integrity, fairness, and credibility of the examination process.
“In the past, instances have come to light where some medical college students were found involved in activities that could affect the integrity, fairness, and credibility of the examination process,” the notice stated. It added that, in light of this, all medical colleges are directed to stay alert and ensure students are made aware of the consequences of engaging in such activities.
The NMC advised colleges against granting leave on June 20 and 21, specifying that leave should be sanctioned only under “special circumstances” and for valid reasons. This notification has been sent to the Deans and Principals of all medical colleges and institutions under the Commission’s purview.
The NEET-UG examination for admission to medical courses was originally held on May 3 this year but was cancelled on May 12 following allegations of a question paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating the matter. The NEET re-examination is scheduled for June 21.
