उप्र: कन्नौज में धार्मिक समारोह में सत्यनारायण कथा का प्रसाद खाने के बाद 60 से ज़्यादा लोग बीमार
An alarming situation arose during a religious gathering in the Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh when 62 people allegedly fell ill after consuming Prasad (religious offering) distributed during a Satyanarayan Katha ceremony. The incident occurred at the residence of Munna Lal Kashyap in Simupur village, where devotees had gathered on Friday night for the religious event. According to officials, the Prasad included Panchamrit and Panjiri, which were served to those attending the ceremony. A few hours after consuming the Prasad—late at night—several people began complaining of health issues such as stomach pain, vomiting, and weakness.
Patients Admitted to District Hospital
Family members initially admitted the affected individuals to nearby private clinics for immediate treatment. However, as the number of patients rose and symptoms worsened, they were subsequently transferred to the District Hospital for medical care. Health officials stated that the condition of the patients is currently stable. Authorities are also investigating the potential cause of the illness and looking into the possibility of contamination in the food items distributed during the ceremony.
Similar Incident Reported Earlier in Bengaluru
A similar incident was reported earlier this year in the Bengaluru Rural district during Ram Navami celebrations. Approximately 60 people fell ill after consuming temple Prasad that had been served to around 400 devotees. Shortly after eating the Prasad, many individuals complained of symptoms such as stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. Health officials had sent food samples for forensic analysis to determine the exact cause of the incident.
