In the Chitrakoot district of Uttar Pradesh, the police seized approximately 200 kilograms of illegal explosive materials and gunpowder from a Bolero vehicle and arrested BJP leader Harigopal Mishra (alias Bablu Mishra) along with his associate, Pappu Tiwari.
The arrested individuals include local BJP leader Harigopal Mishra, alias Bablu Mishra—who had previously contested the District Panchayat (Zila Panchayat) elections—and his associate, Pappu.
Seized Items
The police recovered approximately 199 kilograms of gelatin rods, 100 detonators, wires, and about 2 kilograms of explosive powder from the vehicle.
Location of the Incident: The seizure took place during a routine check near the Madhya Pradesh border, within the jurisdiction of the Markundi police station.
Lack of License
During questioning, it was revealed that the accused did not possess any valid license to store or transport these commercial explosives.
Legal Action
The police have registered a case against both individuals under the Explosive Substances Act and have sent them to jail; further investigation is underway.
