Three young men died in a collision between two Scorpio SUVs in Bihar’s Begusarai district. Around 10 others were injured in the accident and taken to the hospital for treatment. It was reported that the group was heading to the Ganges for a ritual bath after attending a friend’s birthday party.
According to reports, the group had been celebrating the birthday of a friend named Himanshu. After the party, around 12:30 AM, they set out for Simaria in a Scorpio to bathe in the Ganges; the vehicle was being driven by a young man named Sunny. As they were traveling towards the Singhaul police station area, their vehicle collided head-on with another Scorpio coming from the wrong direction on National Highway-31.
The impact was so severe that both Scorpio vehicles were completely wrecked. Chaos and screams erupted at the scene, drawing a crowd of locals and passersby. Police were immediately informed of the accident. Upon arrival, officers, assisted by locals, extricated the injured from the vehicles and rushed them to a private hospital.
Doctors declared three of the young men dead upon arrival. The others are currently undergoing treatment. The deceased have been identified as Lalan Paswan, Baiju Sharma, and Chiku Sah—all residents of the Pokhariya area under the jurisdiction of the Town Police Station.
One of the youths recounted that the driver of one of the vehicles had driven ahead but was attempting a U-turn on the highway to return when the other vehicle, approaching from the opposite direction, collided with them.
Family members had tried to contact the youths when they did not return home late at night, at which point they learned of the accident. The incident has left the families of the deceased devastated.
