The situation in Mumbai has become critical due to heavy rainfall, causing significant challenges for the public. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has issued emergency contact numbers.
A landslide occurred amidst torrential rain near the exit of Tunnel 2 on the Pune-Mumbai link road (in the lane heading towards Mumbai). For safety reasons, traffic has been diverted to an alternative route since 4:00 AM. Authorities are continuously monitoring the situation in coordination with the highway traffic police. Commuters are advised to avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation stated, “In view of the heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds, citizens are urged to step out of their homes only if it is essential. Given the current emergency situation, citizens are requested to keep disaster management helpline numbers handy.”
The NMMC Central Disaster Management Cell has released landline numbers (022-27567060, 27567061) and toll-free helpline numbers (1800222309, 1800222310). The corporation added, “In the event of any emergency—such as flooding, tree falls, landslides, road blockages, or other disaster-related incidents—citizens are requested to immediately contact the aforementioned helpline numbers and adhere to official advisories issued by the NMMC administration.”
To assist passengers, Akasa Air posted on ‘X’: “Due to heavy rains in Mumbai, Pune, and Goa, some flights across our network may experience delays. We understand that this may disrupt your travel plans and appreciate your patience and understanding. While this situation is beyond our control, please be assured that our teams are ready to assist you. Kindly check your flight status on our website before heading to the airport.”
