उत्तर प्रदेश के हरदोई में भीषण आग का तांडव, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स शोरूम-गोदाम जलकर खाक, ₹2 करोड़ का नुकसान

A massive fire broke out at the Shobhit Electronics and Furniture showroom and warehouse in the town of Sandi, located in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi district, at 2:00 AM on Thursday night. The blaze reduced goods worth over ₹2 crore—including ₹22.43 lakh in cash—to ashes. Upon receiving the report of the fire, five fire tenders rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control. However, the shop owner claims that despite being informed, the fire brigade arrived late, resulting in significantly greater damage.

It is reported that the fire originated in the electronics showroom situated on the ground floor and rapidly spread to the warehouse located on the first floor. Initially, a single fire tender arrived at the scene; however, given the intensity of the blaze, three additional fire tenders were summoned from Hardoi and two from Bilgram. After approximately three hours of arduous effort, the fire was finally brought under control.

Caught in the flames, a vast quantity of electronic goods and furniture—including televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, sofas, inverters, batteries, beds, and mattresses—was completely destroyed. According to the shop owner, Puneet Vajpayee, goods worth approximately ₹1.97 crore, along with ₹22.43 lakh in cash kept inside the shop, were consumed by the fire. The total estimated loss is pegged at over ₹2 crore.

Shop owner Puneet Vajpayee alleged that despite being notified, the fire brigade failed to arrive on time with adequate resources, thereby preventing the fire from being brought under control sooner. He further alleged that the response from the local police and administration also fell short of expectations. Currently, the cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is underway.

Sushil Kumar, the Fire Officer for Hardoi, stated that the report regarding the fire in the town of Sandi (under the Bilgram Tehsil) was received at 1:39 AM. Upon receiving the information, two fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon reaching the site, it was observed that the fire had assumed a ferocious magnitude; consequently, three additional fire tenders were summoned to assist. The fire was brought under control after approximately three hours of tireless effort. There was no loss of life in this incident. Prima facie, the fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit.
