Earthquake Intensity
According to the District Emergency Operations Center, tremors were also recorded in the Hingoli, Nanded, and Parbhani districts late Wednesday night. The first tremor was felt at 1:37 AM, the second at 2:15 AM, and the third at 2:17 AM.
Official reports indicate that the intensities of these tremors on the Richter scale were 4.6, 3.6, and 3.9, respectively. The epicenter of the earthquake was located in Shirli village, within the Basmat taluka of Hingoli district.
The administration stated that preliminary assessments have revealed no reports of loss of life or property damage.
Need for Vigilance, Not Panic
Since the tremors occurred in the middle of the night, most people were fast asleep. The occurrence of successive tremors caused a brief period of anxiety among the public. The administration noted that the possibility of further tremors occurring before morning cannot be entirely ruled out. It also clarified that precise earthquake prediction is not possible; therefore, people should remain vigilant rather than panic.
District Collector Rahul Kardile has appealed to citizens to immediately move to open areas if tremors are felt again and to follow the administration’s instructions. He also urged them to avoid rumors and rely only on official information in the event of an emergency.
