In the Twisha Sharma death case, the Madhya Pradesh High Court has approved a second post-mortem, while an AIIMS team will conduct the investigation in Bhopal.
ट्विशा शर्मा मौत मामले में जबलपुर कोर्ट में समर्थ सिंह ने किया सरेंडर, ट्विशा शर्मा का मौत के 10 दिन बाद फिर होगा पोस्टमॉर्टम
In a significant ruling regarding the suspicious death of model Twisha Sharma, the Madhya Pradesh High Court has authorized a second post-mortem examination. Twisha’s family members had filed a petition in court requesting a re-examination of the body; following a hearing on the matter, the Court directed the police to take the necessary steps to facilitate this. Consequently, a team of doctors from AIIMS Delhi will now travel to Bhopal to conduct the second post-mortem, and the entire procedure will be video-recorded.
What Transpired During the Court Hearing?
During the hearing, the counsel representing Twisha Sharma’s husband, Samarth Singh, stated that they had no objection to a second post-mortem, provided that the body be handed over to the accused party—specifically, the in-laws—after the procedure is concluded. Conversely, the Solicitor General submitted to the Court that the objective of the second post-mortem was not to cast blame on anyone, but rather to instill confidence and trust among all parties involved. He further clarified that he harbored no doubts regarding the initial post-mortem report or the competence of the doctor who conducted it.
Samarth Singh Seeks to Surrender
During the proceedings, Senior Advocate Mrigendra Singh informed the Court that Samarth Singh wished to withdraw his bail application and was prepared to surrender before the trial court. However, he also requested that the trial court adjudicate his bail plea on the very same day. Objecting to this request, the Solicitor General argued that at this stage of the investigation, the scope of the accused’s rights must be clearly defined, and his role in matters such as the post-mortem examination is necessarily limited.
Second Post-Mortem to be Conducted at AIIMS Bhopal
Twisha Sharma’s second post-mortem examination will be conducted at AIIMS Bhopal. To this end, a team of expert doctors from AIIMS Delhi will travel to Bhopal. The distance between AIIMS Delhi and AIIMS Bhopal is approximately 776 kilometers. The entire post-mortem procedure will also be video-recorded. Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh government has forwarded a proposal to the Central Government recommending a CBI inquiry into the case.
Marriage via a Dating App, Followed by Death Just 5 Months Later
According to reports, Twisha Sharma first met Samarth Singh through a dating application. Samarth is a criminal lawyer by profession. The couple got married in December 2025; however, just five months into the marriage—on May 12, 2026—Twisha died under suspicious circumstances. Her family members allege that Twisha’s mother-in-law and husband conspired to murder her. Consequently, the family had been persistently demanding a second post-mortem examination and had even refused to take custody of the body.
