A bus has met with an accident in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir. The bus, which was traveling from Pechound to Ramnagar, crashed in the Gulli Gala area. Two people have died in the incident, and 16 passengers are reported to have sustained injuries.

In a remote area of the Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir, a passenger bus skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge, resulting in at least two deaths and injuries to 15 others. Officials stated that the bus was traveling from Pachound to Ramnagar when the accident occurred near Gulli Gala at approximately 8:00 AM. The vehicle was completely destroyed, reduced to a mangled heap of metal. According to officials, six of the injured passengers are in critical condition and have been transferred from the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Basantgarh to the Udhampur District Hospital for specialized medical care.
Bus completely destroyed
Officials reported that the bus was en route from Pachound to Ramnagar when the accident took place near Gulli Gala around 8:00 AM. The bus was severely damaged, ending up as a heap of twisted metal. Following the incident, local villagers immediately launched a rescue operation and transported the injured passengers to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Basantgarh. Upon receiving news of the accident, Union Minister Jitendra Singh spoke with Udhampur Deputy Commissioner Anant Dwivedi. He assured that all possible assistance is being provided and that his office remains in constant contact with the district administration.
Victims include a woman and a young girl
Immediately after the accident, local villagers began rescue efforts and transported 17 injured passengers to the nearby Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Basantgarh. According to officials, following initial treatment, the injured were moved to Ramnagar Hospital, where a woman and a six-year-old girl succumbed to their injuries. Six other injured individuals remain in critical condition and have been referred to the Udhampur District Hospital for advanced medical treatment.

Senior BJP leader and MLA Sunil Bhardwaj visited the hospital to check on the condition of the injured passengers. He expressed concern over the poor condition of the road where the accident occurred and stated that the road needs to be improved to ensure the safety of travelers. He further emphasized the urgent need to strengthen healthcare facilities in the region so that people can receive timely medical assistance and better treatment during emergencies. Earlier, Union Minister Jitendra Singh spoke with Udhampur Deputy Commissioner Anant Dwivedi upon learning of the accident. He stated that all possible assistance is being provided and that his office remains in constant touch with the district administration. Prior to this, five people died and six others were injured when a vehicle plunged into a deep gorge in the Karnah area of Kupwara district.
