A long-standing dispute over a pathway turned violent in Bihar’s Vaishali district on Sunday. An Army soldier and his father were shot dead during a clash involving gunfire between relatives in Rajasan village, under the jurisdiction of the Bidupur police station. Tension prevails in the area following the incident, while all the accused have fled the scene; the police are conducting continuous raids to apprehend them.
According to the police, the incident occurred in Ward No. 5 of Rajasan village. Preliminary investigations reveal a long-standing dispute between the relatives regarding a pathway. A clash had also taken place between the two sides on Saturday night, and the police had been informed. Although the police arrived at the scene after receiving the information, the accused had already fled. On Sunday morning, the two sides confronted each other once again.
It is alleged that during this confrontation, one of the accused opened rapid fire on his cousin, Munarik Rai, and his son, Jitendra Kumar. Munarik Rai died on the spot, while the critically injured Jitendra Kumar was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Jitendra Kumar was serving as a soldier in the Indian Army.
