A major road accident occurred in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, just before Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s convoy was scheduled to pass through. In the Harmada area of Sikar Road, while traffic had been halted, a speeding sleeper bus plowed into a line of stationary vehicles. In the ensuing crash, the bus rear-ended eight cars in succession. Several vehicles sustained severe damage, while one car was forced up onto the road divider. Following the accident, the scene was engulfed in screams and chaos.
According to reports, traffic was stopped near Suncity on Sikar Road around 6:15 PM to facilitate the safe passage of the Chief Minister’s convoy. A long queue of vehicles had formed on the road. At that moment, a private sleeper bus traveling from Jaipur toward Sikar approached at high speed and crashed into the stationary vehicles from behind. According to eyewitnesses, the bus was traveling at such high speed that upon impact, several vehicles were dragged forward.

A private sleeper bus, carrying passengers from Ahmedabad, had set out for Darshan (pilgrimage) at Khatu Shyamji and was scheduled to proceed to Haridwar thereafter. Following the accident, the bus driver fled the scene. The police have impounded the bus and have launched a search for the driver.
