Major news has emerged from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh. According to reports, it is feared that more than 15 people have lost their lives in a massive explosion at a firecracker factory operating in Tonkkala, situated along AB Road; however, no official information regarding the death toll has been released yet.
According to those present at the scene, the blast was so powerful that even the walls of nearby houses shook. Locals claim that the death toll could rise to 15.
According to eyewitnesses, fragments of flesh and body parts were found scattered across the road following the explosion. In the aftermath of the tragedy, the entire area was gripped by an atmosphere of screaming, panic, and chaos. Villagers allege that the factory was manufacturing firecrackers by openly storing gunpowder on the premises, and that safety protocols were being consistently disregarded. The villagers further state that despite numerous complaints, the responsible government departments failed to take any concrete action.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has expressed his condolences regarding the Dewas blast. In a post shared on the social media platform ‘X’, he wrote: “The news of multiple casualties resulting from the explosion at the firecracker factory in Tonkkala, Dewas district, is heart-wrenching. I have directed the Minister-in-charge of the district—Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda—along with the Home Secretary and other senior officials, to visit the incident site. Orders have also been issued to conduct an investigation into the incident.”
Additionally, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced that the Madhya Pradesh government will provide financial assistance of ₹4 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Furthermore, arrangements will be made to provide free medical treatment to those injured in the incident.
