In a major breakthrough, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (UP ATS) has arrested an Indian Navy Lance Naik on charges of spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI. The accused has been identified as Adarsh Kumar, alias Lucky, a resident of Chitpur village in the Kagraul police station area of Agra district.

24-year-old Adarsh Kumar was currently posted as a Lance Naik at the Southern Naval Command, Kochi (Kerala). The ATS had been receiving information for some time that someone was in contact with Pakistani agents and sharing sensitive Indian military information. After a thorough investigation and electronic surveillance, Lucky’s name surfaced. The espionage allegations and evidence revealed that Lucky sent confidential photographs and detailed information about Indian warships to ISI agents.

UP ATS arrested him in Agra

Transferred money from his bank account to a Pakistani handler and shared other highly sensitive details that could pose a threat to national security. The ATS team arrested him in the Kagaraul area of Agra. Interrogation and forensic examination of his electronic gadgets confirmed espionage. The accused was arrested and produced in court, where he was remanded to judicial custody.

Honeytrap Pretext

Agencies are now thoroughly investigating whether Lucky was also a victim of a honeytrap. It’s worth noting that the Pakistani ISI often uses social media or fake profiles to lure people into espionage. A year earlier, in 2025, an Ordnance Factory employee named Ravindra Kumar was arrested in Agra in a similar honeytrap case.

He contacted a woman named Neha Sharma on Facebook and was sending confidential documents related to the Gaganyaan project, drones, and other confidential documents to the ISI. The ATS suspects that Lucky’s case may follow a similar pattern. The ATS and other security agencies are now working to uncover the depths of this espionage network. The investigation is to find out if more people are involved in the conspiracy or if a bigger racket is active.
