Accused of sexually assaulting 17 female students, Chaitanyananda had been absconding for a long time. Delhi Police had formed several teams to arrest him, conducting raids in Delhi as well as cities in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Finally, Baba has been arrested in Agra. On Friday, the court rejected Chaitanyananda’s anticipatory bail plea.

Swami Chaitanyananda, alias Swami Parsarathi, accused of seizing land worth crores of rupees belonging to the Sri Sharda Institute of Indian Management in Vasant Kunj, Delhi, by forming a trust and molesting female students, received a major setback from the Patiala House Court on Friday. The court rejected his anticipatory bail plea, putting him at risk of arrest. However, the police had issued a lookout circular against Chaitanyananda in the meantime.

What are the charges against Chaitanyananda?

Chaitanyananda is accused in not one but several cases. This entire case relates to the Sri Sharda Institute of Indian Management, a management institute in Vasant Kunj. According to the police, Swami Chaitanyananda attempted to seize the institute’s valuable land and funds by forming a new trust parallel to the original Sri Sharda Institute of Indian Management Trust from 2010 until now. It is alleged that he transferred approximately 20 crore rupees to the new trust, even though these funds were intended for the original trust. Since July 2025, approximately ₹60 lakh in cash has been withdrawn. This has led to a case of illegal occupation of the institute’s land. On September 19, the Delhi Police registered three FIRs against Swami, under sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

This case is not limited to land grabbing. Swami Chaitanyananda has also been accused of sexually abusing 17 female students studying at the institute. These students belonged to the economically weaker section (EWS) and were enrolled in diploma courses on scholarships. The victims allege that Swami called them to the ashram, molested them, and threatened them.
