A woman died and 13 people were injured when an AC compressor exploded in a gurdwara located on the banks of the Sutlej river in Rupnagar on Tuesday. Officials gave this information.
This incident happened during a religious program. Officials said that the cause of the explosion could not be ascertained immediately.
After the explosion, people present in the gurdwara started running for safety.
Officials said that most of the injured are women, who were sitting near the AC. They said that some people were injured in the stampede that followed.
They said that the deceased woman has been identified as Kashmir Kaur, a resident of Hargobind Nagar in Rupnagar.
One seriously injured person was referred to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, while others were being treated at two other hospitals, including the Rupnagar Government Hospital.
