The Meteorological Department has especially advised those going on Chardham Yatra to be cautious. Department director Bikram Singh said that the weather can change rapidly in the hilly areas, due to which cold can return again. He has advised the travellers to keep warm clothes with them and set out on the journey only after taking weather related information.
The change in weather in the beginning of May has given relief to the people from the heat. The maximum temperature in the capital Dehradun has been recorded at 34.2 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal. The weather remains pleasant due to cloudy weather and cold winds in the hilly and plain areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, the main reason for this entire change is the activation of Western Disturbance. Due to this, weather activities will continue in the state till May 5. The department has appealed to the people to be cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.
