Mass suicide has created a stir in Anakapalle district of Andhra Pradesh. Four members of a family committed suicide. The fifth member is struggling between life and death. According to police, a goldsmith along with his wife and three daughters allegedly consumed cyanide at their home in Anakapalle town on Thursday night.
Shiv Ramakrishna (40), his wife Madhavi (38), daughters Vaishnavi (16) and Lakshmi (13) died before they could be taken to the hospital. The couple’s youngest daughter Kusumpriya was admitted to Anakapalle Government Hospital and her condition is said to be critical.
Ramakrishna, a resident of Tenali in Guntur district, had moved to Anakapalle with his family one and a half years ago and was working in a shop. It is suspected that the family has taken this step due to financial constraints. Local people said that the goldsmith was burdened with debt. Police have registered the case and started investigation.
